COMMENTS: This is/was and always will be the greatest metal headline act's. If you never made it to a Raven Wolf/Slayride gig, then let me assure you that you missed out.

COMMENTS: I do recall this gig. I remember missioning out to this place in the middle of nowhere late at night, but there were still quite a few people there. This was an extreemly classic gig as we rocked a little harder that night cos the vibe was just right. There was MUCH headbanging and moshing. I sang backing vox during Slayride's set on Bubble Butt and Take Me Tonight, and Porky did a guest slot with Raven Wolf on For Whom the Bell Tolls, as well as a super-rare guest slot on The Four Horsemen. Man, even Metallica themselves couldn't rock more than we did when RW/SR did Metallica covers. AWESOME gig, and had blood-blisters to proove it!

COMMENTS: This also became a classic lineup: Raven Wolf, VOD and Slayride. We all complimented eachothers styles of metal so well that no matter what kind of metal you liked, you would get some of it at one of these gigs. Unfortunately VOD invented the perception that they were the "headline" band most of the time and insisted on playing last. Not that that was a problem most of the time, but there were occasions that this needless "rockstar complex" got in the way of having some good old-fasioned fun!

COMMENTS: Hellsteeth - Now these guys had potential, it's a shame they vanished of the scene so quickly or they may have gone on to better things.

COMMENTS: I Scream Sunday - were some friends we knew from school (and had jammed with before playing Sisters of Mercy covers, Paranoid and other classics). When I say we, I mean myself, Shannon Wade and Leon Swart of SlayRide fame. More of this story will be available in the HISTORY section eventually. And yes, there is a video recording of this jam session, thanks to mutual friend at the time known as Mr S. Who had to endure hours of agony in his arms (from holding the camera still for hours at a time - no tripod!) as well as to his ears, having to listen to the rest of us TORTURE perfectly good songs for hours. Ahh, gotta love it!

COMMENTS: We played the Stage's "Battle of the Bands" (first leg) at 6PM as can be seen in the newspaper article. We then played at the Playground later the same day (9:30) as is also mentioned in the newspaper article. The flyer featured here is the one for The Stage's "battle of the Bands". If you have the flyer/poster that was used for The Playground, then be sure to contact us.
We went on to WIN the "Battle of the Bands" in a tied 1st place with Stub 'n Ash. The prize was (30 hours) free recording time. Dates were set for: Friday 17 January 1992 and Wednesday 22 January 1992. (These dates were then moved around MANY times and almost a year later we actually saw something come of this.
